Sergeant “Ted” Gould was a WW1 veteran as a Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery. He was a prisoner of war in Germany from March to December 1918.
He worked as a local newsagent and bicycle and radio shop owner and died in April 1949. Records show he ended up as a Corporal in the Home Guard.
He would ride a motor bike around the area collecting accumulators for recharging and leaving charged ones.
