Clarence Hicks worked on his fathers farm on Horsepool Street. He was known for being able to sell poultry and meat without the need for ration books and no questions asked.

He moved to Somerset before stand down so was posted to the 10th Battalion (Bridgwater) Somerset Home Guard 7th June 1944.
