Other information

Christopher's Grandson, Tony, discovered a letter obviously written after Christopher's death to the owner of Doxford Farm. This proves his Auxiliary Units role though the dates are confusing. The OB referred to is West Fallodon Patrol.

"Dear Sir, forgive me for writing to you with an unusual request. I have been to your farm but of course this was in 1988-9 you might not even be the owner that was there then a Mr A D Turnball, so that why I hope that you will be patient with me.

When my Husband and I came to stay we were retracing my Husband's army days in Northumbria, where he was with Sir Anthony Quale who was in in charge of that area for the formation of what then called the Auxiliary Units of which maybe you have heard, if you are the Mr Turnball who owned the farm while we were staying there, you told us of the underground hideout that you had discovered on your land and you were hoping to turn it into a Museum.

Could you get in touch with me regarding this and if you have any photographs of it if you could spare. I ask because our village will be celebrating VE day this year and want information from people as to what they did during the war. Unfortunately my Husband died last year but I would like to enter his story for him"
