Biography

The sons of Thomas and Margaret, Leslie and Charles were brothers. Born at 4 Sunnyside, Ridge. He married Edith "Timmy" Orchard in 1943. Charlie was employed as a clay miner underground at Norden claypits by Pike Bros / Fayle & Co.

Other information

Charlie can be seen in his TA (Territorial Army) / Home Guard uniform. He has a 1922 (Other Ranks) woollen service dress cap with Dorset Regiment badge, and a 1903 pattern leather belt used by Home Guard. Thus he could be in an administrative or instruction role. Photo taken 1940 at Sunnyside Ridge.
