Cecil was the Patrol Sergeant for Teignmouth Patrol.
Baptised in Milverton, Somerset to William and Kate Gilpin he married Ethel Coysh in 1919.

Sergeant Gilpin served as a Corporal in WW1 in the Royal Flying Corps working as a mechanic 318199. He joined up 21st October 1914 aged just 17. He is described as 5 foot 6 inches tall.
He ran Central Garage in Northumberland Street in Teignmouth. He was one of many that took his “little boat” to Dunkirk.
