In 1939 Beverly was living in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and is a managing director of Brodca Relay Services, a subsidiary of Rediffusion Ltd which he had helped set up.
In the early 30s he was the Gloucestershire cricket captain and he was noted for his "inspired leadership". His unconventional, second marriage to Mrs Iris la Fontaine Whittall took place in Chelsea, London in Feb 1932 with only the knowledge of both mothers. He returned to work in the afternoon and had his tonsils out the following day at his London home. "I suspect I will be off for a week after and that will be my honeymoon" he reported to the Gloucestershire Echo.
