Basil was a Civil Engineer working with Tarmacadam. He was a member of the Bisley Rifle Club and won quite a few trophies (silver spoons). He was educated at City of London School for boys and was a Templer in the church choir. He came from a long line of school teachers. He married Beatrice Stenholm in Marylebone, London in 1933.
Living later at Dunkirk he attended a 1990 reunion at Coleshill House.
