His Enrolment Form for the Local Defence Volunteers shows he signed up 24 June 1940 and he is promoted to Corporal 3 March 1941 and Sergeant 1 Nov 1941. The record shows he was discharged 30 Nov 1942. This could be him leaving Home Guard to join Auxiliary Units however there is no note of his Auxiliary Units service.
