Admiral, Royal Navy, Retired
Royal Navy 15 July 1893 to 26 March 1929. In WW1 he was in submarines and Captain of HMS Arrogant and Juno. In 1934 he was promoted to Vice Admiral on retirement list.
His Navy record sates he was "very able and zealous, popular and with much tact and sound judgement, physically strong and a thorough sportsman". He played Rugby in the first Army Vs Navy match.
He lived just across fields from the Chapel site in Bow Lodge. Admiral Palmer knew Farmer Aywin and Walter Langmead.
Chair of the local British Legion, he also Commanded 8th Battalion Home Guard and was later President of Home Guard Old Comrades Association.
President of Tennis club, Rugby club and rifle club.
