Private Albert George Gillingham Harden
19 Jul 1909 - 11 Oct 1973
Biography
Albert Harden is something of a mystery. He had joined the Home Guard on 20 Jun 1940. He features in both Home Guard and Auxiliary Units records as a transfer to 203 Battalion on 11 Nov 1942, though both note that the transfer was cancelled on 12 Feb 1943. It isn’t clear that he ever served with the unit and it may be this was simply an administrative error. It is likely we will never know. His service record, Form WO3066 was transferred to Dorset Territorial Army who administered the Dorset Home Guard on 2 Mar 1943, suggesting he was with them then. He died in Wales in 1973.
