Station description
Rackheath Hall is believed to have housed Auxiliary Units Signals regional headquarters from 1941. The Beatrice Temple diary refers to a new station opening in Norwich in late 1942 which is presumably the one at Thorpe St Andrews. It is unclear if Rackheath Hall continued in use in any way after this. It is mentioned in The Last Ditch by David Lampe.
It is possible that a Control Station might, for some time at least, have been in Fir Covert, a private woodland in the grounds of and just south of the Hall, perhaps before the Zero Station was built at Thorne St Andrew.
