It is thought to have closed prior to June 1944 as it does not appear on the Jones Map. Reportedly it was in woodland south of Bury St Edmunds. The call sign is unknown.
Beatrice Temple first mentions it in her diary 1 April 1942.
July 11 1942 Met Capt Childe in Sudbury. On to BSE (Bury St Edmunds) – entire day spent in looking for billets. Slept in car on way to Braintree.
Aug 16 1942 Major Jones called in about producing Signalmen. Everything going wrong at Taunton and Orderly at BSE has died in suspicious circumstances.
Aug 24 1942 BSE – Mickie and Shaw re funeral (Orderly). Met Freddie Childe.
Oct 28 1942 Mickie Browne telephoned that Mary Shaw had been knocked down by a car and had serious head injuries.
Oct 29 1942 Rosemary Astley-Cooper will take Mary Shaw's place at Bury
Nov 24 1942 Left for BSE – much toing and froing with Mickie to Police and Mary's accident. Visited hospital + saw ?? ??.
Dec 2 1942 Cicely Hopkins alone at Hatfield Peverel – three B's then– three more at Halstead – last 3 at BSE. Dinner with the Shaws (Mary looked dreadful).
Dec 3 1942 Wait for Mickie and picked up Shaws for Court. Mary's case a travesty – prosecution missed all its many chances and case was dismissed. Returned to Suffolk to collect “Proceedings” from Police (most garbled) – met Mickie, Yolande at Mary's hotel for Court of Enquiry in her bedroom.
Mar 12 1943 On to Halstead and then to BSE (Maj Jones + Mr Bradley).
It is last mentioned in March 1944.
