Operational Base (OB)

It has been suggested the OB was in a local cave. Rob Marshall, a child during the war, found a cave full of explosives, rifles, hand grenades, a chemical toilet and food. Thinking it a spies hideout he reported it to the Police and the Army blew it up. He was told never to talk about it.

Other information

On January 20th 1945, a significantly historical dinner was held at the Masonic Hall, Ryde. Gathered together for the first time in five years were the majority of the members of the Island’s Auxiliary Patrols. A copy of the post stand-down dinner menu for that Saturday evening offers evidence of the men involved.
