The Operational Base is in a small area of woodland on Church Hill near Alton Pancras. It is almost completely collapsed though the outline is visible, with remains a corrugated shaft at one end and a corrugated elephant iron main structure, supported by a wooden framework. The central section still has a partially intact length of roof.
CART visited the site on 21st March 2018. It is in Private Woodland and permission to visit was obtained.
On one occaison, Gilbert Chalke was in the OB and he started to feel very sleepy so he went outside and opened the hatch because his comrades were feeling the same. It turned out that they were being poisoned with carbon monoxide because the ventilation shaft was blocked by a bird nest.
