A 1970 Newspaper article featuring Sir Torquil Munro, stated " We did some of our training near Alyth Junction, for this gave us practise in the techniques of laying explosives on railway lines. We chose Alyth because we could practise on both the Strathmore line and the Alyth / Dundee Line"
