The OB is within woods south of Bradford Peverell. A rendered block built shaft has built in rungs in the corner and some of the hatch opening mechanism remains. More of the mechanism lies on the floor. It leads down to a small first chamber. A broken S.R.D rum jar remains.
An offset doorway opens into the main chamber which has a solid floor and a small block wall upon which sits a corrugated elephant shelter. A central square hole in the roof allows ventilation and there are some ventilation pipes at a lower level. Two 2 by 4 inch lengths of timber by both doorways have 2 metal rings, scaffold type poles lie on the floor. It is thought this may have been a system for hanging hammocks. A wooden bed frame is also still present.
At the far end another offset door leads through to a second small chamber and a square block built tunnel. This bends at a right angle and ends with a escape shaft leading up to ground level with a similar corner rungs.
Dorchester (West) Patrol
The most obvious targets would have been the transport links of the main A35 road to Dorchester and the nearby rail track.
