Witham, Essex

Between 17th May 1944 to 16th June 1944 the Essex Headquarters was recorded as 14 Albert Road, Witham. It was conveniently located directly opposite Witham railway station. The house was recorded as empty in 1939.

Prior to this, some meetings had been held at The Albert public house a short distance away. A photo from 1925 - 1934 period can be seen on the History of Witham website. It is now named The Railway. During the war the pub was run by Walter and Lily Gale.
