Mobile Construction Unit 77 was created in 1942 to allow SOE to undertake its own building works. Royal Engineers personnel were recruited to serve in it. It had a particular role in the installation of wireless equipment, not only in ground stations, but in boats and aircraft. Some MI6 personnel appear to have been involved, since MI6 had run all SOE communications prior to this.
