Copper Tube Igniters

The "igniter, safety fuse, copper tube" was a quarter inch copper tube five eighths of an inch long. It was filled at one end with safety match composition. The tube could be crimped onto the end of safety fuse, allowing it to be fired by striking the match composition head on a striker board or safety matchbox.

They were issued in a small tin  2.5 inches across and 3/4 inch deep, holding 25 igniters wrapped individually wrapped in wax paper. These tins were painted black or grey.
